My Best Things This Month: Mayfeatured
Posted in Life & Style
Due to having a super busy few weeks and having very little time to dedicate to blogging, I’ve decided to scrap my ‘My Best Things This Week‘ series and replace it with a monthly version.
So here are my favourite moments from May!
- Jake and I booked a holiday to Tunisia for June. I’m so excited! As you can probably guess, I’ve not been very money-saving over recent weeks. The holiday was a bargain at around £550 each for 12 days, but since booking it I’ve done quite a bit of holiday shopping. On the positive side, if I wasn’t on a mission to save up for my own house, I probably would have bought a hell of a lot more stuff. Although I’ve treated myself to some high street goodies, I’ve been careful to only buy things that I love and am likely to use time and time again.
- Okay… maybe I won’t use everything time and time again. I can hardly stroll into the office or go on a night out in this Floozy bikini, but nevertheless, it’s my favourite purchase this month. I spotted it in Debenhams and as soon as I tried it on I knew it was the one. At around £45 for the set, it’s much pricer than I originally planned to pay, but it’s just so gorgeous and flattering that I decided to treat myself.
- I’ve started volunteering at a charity shop on Saturdays. So far I’ve just been helping in the shop itself by sorting out stock and learning how everything works, but when I get back from Tunisia I’m going to be getting stuck into the social media side of things. I’m can’t wait to set up an Instagram account and start sharing photos of the great donations the shop receives.
- Shortly after I started helping out at the charity shop, I sent an email round to everyone at work to see if anyone had an item or two that they no longer wanted. I wasn’t expecting a huge response and just thought a couple of people might bring in a jumper or two. Turns out though that Delineo are a charitable bunch. Within a week my desk was filled with bin bags full of my colleagues’ unwanted clothes. There was so much stuff that my Dad ended up picking me up to save me spending a fortnight lugging it all back on the bus.
- Tired of my scruffy locks, I treated myself to a cut and colour at my favourite Manchester hair salon, Denny’s. If you’re also in Manchester and prefer down-to-earth salons where you don’t feel like you need immaculate hair before you even enter the place, I’d definitely recommend paying them a visit.
- It’s not my birthday until the start of June, but Jake and I spent the last day in May at my parents’ house to celebrate my 25th a bit early. My Mum cooked us an amazing roast dinner followed by this gorgeous gluten free cake. Afterwards, we cracked open some Prosecco and watched a few episodes of Entourage. I have to say, it’s a bit of an awkward one to watch with your parents. The Prosecco must have gone straight to my Mum’s head, because she referred to Jeremy Piven as Mr Sainsbury’s at one point.
- I’m loving TKMaxx at the moment and must have spent a good half an hour trying to decide which handbag to buy for my holiday. I ended up opting for this tasselled lovely…but once again I guess I’ve broken my ‘only buy things I’ll use all the time’ rule. As much as I’d love to use this bag every day, I don’t think it will survive the magnificent British weather for very long.
- To celebrate Be A Millionaire Day, Lottosend kindly included some of my money saving tips in this infographic.
- I’ve saved the best thing ’til last. A homeless man wrote me a poem and it’s incredible.
