20 Things I Learned in 2015featured
1. Binge watching a show on Netflix is a great way to spend your time as long as you enjoy every second of it
2. Life is all about making things. Whether you’re making money, making blog posts or making your own jewellery, find something you enjoy making and make as much of it as possible.
3. The more time you spend worrying about the number of things on your to-do list, the less time you have to actually tackle your to-do list. Calm down, make a start on the first thing, and put everything else to the back of your mind.
4. There will always be people who don’t like you. There are people out there who don’t like Elizabeth Holmes (the Theranos CEO who made it possible to run 30 lab tests from one drop of blood) because she *allegedly* doesn’t date or own a TV. She’s still amazing.
5. If someone has a strong opinion on something you strongly disagree with, there is probably no point wasting your time trying to change their mind.
6. Even as an adult, you’ll come across bullies. Remind yourself they have a lack of self esteem and like to emphasise other people’s faults to make themselves feel better about their own.
7. Judging people is exhausting. Focus only on yourself.
8. Spread positivity instead of sharing the bad.
9. Don’t worry about the bad things people do, be thankful for the good.
10. Forgive someone. Grudges are pointless and exhausting. Make an effort to see that person you haven’t spoken to in years. When you see them and make amends, it’ll feel like a weight off your shoulders. If your efforts don’t see positive results, you can rest easy knowing you did the best you could.
11. You don’t need to spend money to be happy.
12. Life is so much more fulfilling when you place less emphasis on objects and focus on moments instead.
13. There are so many more hours in a week than you imagine.
14. You can achieve so many great things if you spend a little less time on social media.
15. Instead of making excuses, accept the criticism of others and try to improve.
16. If you try to accomplish something in half the time it would usually take you, it probably will be half as good. However, don’t waste your time looking for perfection. Try to find a balance between the two.
17. Volunteering is worth every second you can devote to it.
18. Running away from problems only increases the distance between the solution. Facing your problems can be so much more satisfying and can reap much greater results.
19. You’re only defeated when you quit.
20. The only person you should aim to be better than is the person you were yesterday.
