Shopping For My Holiday Wardrobe

With a holiday to Tunisia just over a week away, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t stressing out a bit about finding all the clothes I need in time.

In all honesty though, there’s not even that much stuff that I need to buy! Having lost almost 2 stone since October, I can now squeeze into several pretty dresses that I haven’t worn in years, my mum’s kindly given me some of her summer clothes, and I’ve managed to thrift a few holiday bargains from charity shops.

Spotted this beauty in the charity shop today for just 99p and had to buy it! Perfect for wearing over my bikini when I'm on holiday 😍 #charityshopfashion #charityshopbargains #charityshops #charityshop #summer #bikini #beachbodyready #thrifty #holiday #tunisia

It’s just proving to be an absolute nightmare finding the new things I need.

For example, I have several nice crop tops that I can’t wait to wear, but no high waisted shorts or skirts to wear them with.

Most of the weight I’ve lost must have come straight from my chest, arms and wrists though because no matter how many shorts and skirts I’ve tried on today, I’m really struggling to find some that fit.

I tried a grand total of 11 different items on in TK Maxx and 10 in Topshop, but walked away with just two pairs of shorts which only seem to fit because the waists are elasticated. At £30 each I hardly feel like I’ve landed myself a bargain and since they’re both flowery they aren’t quite as versatile as something plain or denim would he. As a pear shaped woman, I think these clothes-finding woes are a sign that I could make things so much easier for myself by just sticking to dresses! But I really don’t want the pretty crop tops I’ve got to go to waste.

On the positive side, I’m extremely excited to get on the beach because last week I treated myself to a brand new bikini from Debenhams. At £26.50 for the top and £20 for the bottom, it wasn’t cheap. But you know when you try something on in a changing room that makes you feel so amazing that you just stand there smiling at yourself and doing weird poses in the mirror as if you’re having a chat to Tyra Banks and Nigel Barker? That was me. And after that, no matter how many cheaper bikinis I tried on elsewhere, I just couldn’t get that some amazing feeling again. So back to Debenhams I went.

I’ve also bought these really cute flowery trainers from New Look. But again, I need some plain stuff to go with them.

So here’s my list of things that I still need to track down:

  • 2 pairs of summer sandals
  • 3 vest tops. Ideally white, black and navy. But I’m not a fan of those super tight stretchy vest tops that are really easy to find. I need to track down some cotton ones.
  • A plain black high waisted pair of shorts (Most of the ones I’m seeing are virtually hot pants and they don’t do my thighs any favours, so I need something a little bit longer without being too close to my knees)
  • A plain black high waisted skirt (Again, nothing too short or mini skirty. But it’d also have to be super special to convince me to go knee length)

If you have any suggestions I’d love to hear from you either in the comments below or on Twitter. You can find me at @CantSwingACat. With just over a week left until I hop on the plane, I need to get organised and track down the things I need!
