[Update 21st April: If you haven’t yet got a code, please do not text EE for this until 24th June. Due to popular demand they have put this offer on hold. I’ve written an updated post about how you can get your hands on a free charger]
If you’re an EE customer you can get a ‘free’ portable phone charger by sending a text to your provider and obtaining a code.
The phone charger, aka ‘power bar’ is usually worth £20 and will allow you to charge your phone on the go.
Once the power bar’s battery has ran out, you can either charge it up yourself or take it into an EE store for replacing.
How do I get a free EE portable charger?
If you want to get your hands on one for free, you must be either:
- an EE, Orange or T-Mobile customer on a 30 day, 12 month, 18 month or 24 month plan
- a pay-as-you-go customer for at least three months
The power bar offer was first introduced on Thursday 16th April.
Mobile customers should text POWER to 365 (texts cost 35p)
Broadband customers should text JOIN plus your EE landline number to 60005 (texts cost 35p)
EE still haven’t announced how tablet customers can get the offer, sounds like these guys are really organised, ey? 😉
How much battery life does the charger have?
According to EE the power bar can hold enough battery life to charge the average smartphone once. Once it’s done this it will need charging itself.
It’s worth noting that the EE charger is part of a hire agreement so if you leave EE after receiving one you will need to return it or pay a £5 fee.
Due to unprecedented demand, you may have to wait a short while for your text. Also, expect queues in store once you arrive to collect your charger.
Due to high demand, there may be a slight delay in a text response, but don't worry, we've got your number.
