The Boxing Day sales get a lot of stick, and when you get people fighting each other to get their hands on a duvet cover in Next, I’m not even that surprised. But while some people take the sales a little too seriously - turning up at 6am and forcing their children to get in the queue while they run around filling their baskets - there are plenty of thrifty bargains to be had without resorting to such drastic measures.
I rocked up to Debenhams at 9.30 this morning, expecting it to be heaving. Thankfully, it was relatively calm and peaceful, meaning I could casually browse the offers without having to defend myself from any aggressive shopping monsters. I didn’t have to queue for the changing rooms and I only queued for the checkout for a couple of minutes! It was a Boxing Day miracle.
I didn’t snap up quite as much as I usually do, but I was trying to hold back a little seeing as I am *supposed* to be saving money, not spending it. But hey, it’s Christmas and after working so hard, I deserve a few treats.
I found this gorgeous vintage pastel alarm clock which was half price and just £9. As you’d expect, it doesn’t really match the deep purple accessories that I currently have in my bedroom at my parents’ house, but I couldn’t resist.
All I seem to think about at the moment is buying my first house, decorating it, and filling it with loads of gorgeous accessories. At the moment, I’m thinking of having mostly white and grey walls so that it’s pretty versatile. I can then brighten it up with lovely curtains, duvets, cushions etc. Oh I’m getting carried away, I haven’t even finished saving my deposit yet!
Just as I was about to leave Debenhams I spotted this cute little porcelain house jar by Ben de Lisi. It could be used for storing anything such as tea, coffee, cookies or sweets. I’ve decided to use it as a piggy bank though to save up loose change towards my house. I’m going to need a hell of a lot of coppers to reach my goal!
Have you done any shopping in the Boxing Day sales? Or maybe you avoid them like the plague and would rather sit at home watching telly in your onesie! Let me know 🙂
