Two months ago I joined Slimming World. After gradually piling on the pounds over the last couple of years, I was starting to feel really down about my appearance. I finally got to a stage where none of my clothes in my wardrobe fitted me and I decided enough was enough and I needed help. I’d spent so long telling myself that there was no way I’d be able to lose weight because I was so greedy, that I’d almost given up hope. For so long I’d told myself that I didn’t have the willpower in me to do anything about it and so I just got bigger and bigger.

In the end, I decided to give Slimming World a try. Two months later and one stone down and my only regret is not joining months ago. I’ve found it so easy to stick to and have rarely gotten hungry. On the rare occasion that I do get hungry, I eat! I don’t have to count calories or weigh all my food. Instead, different types of food are split into categories. You can eat as much as you like of certain foods, but then there’s other foods where you have limits. But if you overindulge one day, it’s not a problem, you can make up for it the next day.

Oh no! Not another potato…. #SlimmingWorld #slimforsanta #slimmingworlduk

I’m tired of hearing people talk about the stupid diets that they’re on, and how they’ve lost almost a stone in a fortnight by eating normally for 5 days a week and starving themselves for the other 2. I don’t want to hear about how you’ve only eaten yellow things all week or have given up carbs! Sure the weight might drop off quickly in time for your holiday, but it’s not sustainable and you’ll make yourself ill.

The beauty of Slimming World is that you’re able to eat whatever you want within moderation. I know you’ve heard all about eating in moderation before, and if you’re anything like I was before, moderation was not on my list of things to think about. I used to eat several sandwiches a day, several chocolate bars a day and loved fry ups and huge roast dinners. I can’t eat that much now, but I can still have a sandwich each day, a fry up a few times a week and even the occasional chocolate bar. And because I fill up on all the right things like potatoes, lean meat and fruit, I don’t get hungry.

If you’re struggling with your weight or you’re feeling insecure about your body like I did, I urge you to give Slimming World a try. (I’m aware this reads like a giant advert but I swear Slimming World haven’t paid me for this) It’s £5 a week to attend their groups but it’s 100% worth it, and even once I’ve reached my target I’ll probably still attend classes every now and again to make sure I continue my healthy lifestyle and still benefit from support.

Guess which one is mine and which is the boyfriend's? #SlimmingWorld #slimforsanta #slimmingworlduk
