Can’t Swing a Cat is a blog about improving your financial situation and saving for the future without sacrificing your happiness in the present.
Whether you want to save for a deposit on your first home, travel the world or achieve financial independence, I want to help you get the life you want.
I’m not going to tell you to spend all afternoon cutting coupons or filling in boring online surveys, I’m interested in helping you find sustainable ways to improve your finances.
I also won’t encourage you to give up everything you enjoy in life. From treating yourself to a pint in your nearest beer garden to a sightseeing weekend in Berlin, there’s no need to sacrifice life’s luxuries or explorations in search of financial security.
At Can’t Swing a Cat, you’ll learn how to ask for a pay rise, find a second job, and make money at home. You’ll learn the importance of compound interest, emergency funds, and pensions. Are you still with me? Good. You’ll also gain plenty of thrifty tips to help you make the most of what you’ve got and make your money go further than you ever thought possible.
I promise to keep it interesting and jargon free. With the help of real life stories from twenty somethings all around the world, I hope to inspire you to have faith in yourself, grow your wealth, and improve your life.
Still not convinced I can help you? In October 2015 I achieved my goal of saving £10,000 in a year. I’m now on a mission to save £12,000 in a year – while living in a rented flat in Manchester. Follow the tips on this blog and there’s no reason why you can’t grow your wealth too! I can’t wait to hear how you get on!

Please note that some posts on this blog include affiliate links. These affiliate links will appear as a result of a tool I use called Skimlinks.
Skimlinks is an extremely popular tool used by thousands of bloggers around the world to monetise their websites.
In short, Skimlinks searches my blog posts and converts some links into affiliate links automatically.
When a link is converted to an affiliate link, this means that if you were to buy a product or service as a result of reading my post, I could potentially earn a small commission. This commission will be at no cost to you and the product you buy will cost exactly the same as it would had you not discovered it through my website.
Skimlinks is a very new addition to my blog and was installed in August 2016 – almost two years (and 200+ blog posts) after I first created Can’t Swing a Cat. I’ve spent so long blogging for free that I figured I may as well try and make a bit of money off it. By monetising this website I’m hopeful that I can continue to provide you with lots of great content that inspires you to make money, boost your careers and save for the future without sacrificing your happiness in the present.
